Robben Island
From: R3,250pp
Flight Description
Depart from the V&A Waterfront and embark on a journey to Robben Island, Dutch for “Seal Island.” This historical site was where Nobel Laureate and former South African President Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 18 years and has since become a symbol of the victory of democracy and freedom over oppression.
From above, you will see the prison, a harbour and also a small town of the locals who work on the island. Robben Island also has a number of maritime wrecks around the island and a large colony of African Penguins. The island is also used as a leper colony and animal quarantine station.
