Buitenverwachting Wine Farm is a historic estate located in the heart of the Constantia Valley in South Africa. It has a rich history dating back to 1796, making it one of the oldest wine farms in the country. The name Buitenverwachting translates to “beyond expectations” and the estate lives up to its name by producing some of the finest wines in South Africa.
The estate is known for its premium quality wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir. The grapes are grown in well-draining soils and are hand-picked to ensure the highest quality. The winemaking process at Buitenverwachting is traditional, focusing on minimal intervention to allow the unique terroir to shine through in the wines.
In addition to its world-class wines, Buitenverwachting is also a popular tourist destination, offering wine tastings and tours of the estate. The historic manor house and beautiful gardens offer a glimpse into the rich history of the farm. Worth doing - Excellent flight. As the weather was a little cloudy our pilot took us round a slightly different route. We mentioned about golf courses so he took us via... read more Steenberg and Westlake but couldn’t quite get to Clovelly as the cloud was too low. Definitely worth doing.
